Bamboo Hardwood Flooring Are They Worth It?

February 9th, 2008

Bamboo hardwood flooring is increasingly popular at the present moment. It wasn’t until after President Nixon’s trip to China back in 1972 that the bamboo began flowing to America. Most do not understand the importance of trade relations trips but you can see a direct link from his trip to this product and many others such as acupuncture coming to America.

Bamboo wood flooring is currently made of layers of Bamboo and pressed together. This is the way we make plywood. It is nothing more than multiple woods pressed together to become a flat sheet. Others are glued together with glue in the tongue and groove areas. Finally, the floating floor method of installing wood floors has really taken off for installers. It enables the floor to expand and contract. Thus reducing shrinkage at the perimeter of the floor.

Once installed bamboo hardwood flooring is amongst the easiest to maintain. This should make many homeowners beam with joy. Low maintenance, easy installation and not as expensive as traditional wood flooring. Why wouldn’t I want to consider installing wood versus hardwood flooring?
