Interior Design Lighting - The Easy Way Make Your Life More Colorful and Less Stressful

July 26th, 2007

Walking into a room with low lighting affects your mood immediately and
you might feel drowsy and tired. For most people a well lit room will uplift
their feeling and they feel refreshed.

That’s why lighting is one of the most important aspects of your interior design.
It can be the one aspect that makes your plan stick out from others, usually
more ordinary designs.

You can use lighting to accentuate certain spots, like paintings, plants,
sculptures, fine piece of furniture or even beautiful hifi gear or speakers.
For example, a nice spot light on a Martin-Logan electrostatic speaker makes
it look beautiful and part of any fine interior design.

One can also use interior design lighting to change the room’s atmosphere
completely.

Most old homes need brightening up treatment and sometimes that can be a
very demanding part of the plan. Luckily, these days, with the new lighting
technology these challenges are much easier to deal with.

For example wiring in older homes used to be a real hassle, but these days
you can find loads of different ways to overcome this problem.

Internet is an excellent tool to find the most up-to-date examples
of these new solutions.

You can also find numerous books from your favorire bookstore.

Last time I visited Books-A-Million they had several interior design
books on sale, starting from few dollars! You can find excellent,
low cost and easy to implement ideas from these cheap books.

One of the most popular interior design lighting today is track lighting.
It’s usually quite easy to install and can change the room instantly
and dramatically.

You can usually use the wiring from your old overhead light or perhaps
ceiling fan to power up the track light.

Track light is excellent when you want to accentuate your beautiful, new
Italian design sofa or your ultramodern design artwork. It can really
make the artwork look much more special and your room so much
more inviting!

You can also use track light to have sufficient lighting for your
work station, leaving more room for your laptop and other office equipment.

It is quite unbelievable how you can achieve all this from one,
well-placed track lighting set!

These day you can find several different track lighting sets.
These different sizes work in every home, and there are endless variety
of shapes and colors to choose from. Most of these are easy to install
and excellent for new homes and can make a huge difference in your
old apartment of house.

Interior design lighting is especially important in the kitchen,
and these days there are special track lighting rigs specifically designed
for kitchens, as well as specific tracks for artwork and work spaces.

One of the places where interior design lighting can make a substantial
difference is in the kitchen. Kitchens can be a bit boring and dull,
but once you set a good looking lighting set and accentuate
right places, your kitchen comes alive with different colours
and shades.

Now, it so much nicer to prepare meals in a kitchen that
is inviting and colourful instead of that boring old kitchen with
just one, dull looking overhead light!

Luckily, these days you can find several different shapes of track
lighting sets which are specifically designed for work spaces
like kitchen and even your garage.

Work places, like garage, are also very important to light
properly. A small investment on proper lighting can save your eyes
and make everyday life much easier to cope with!

Studies have proven that lighting is very important for your
stress levels as well.

Now that you have options to even do it yourself there are
no limits for your lighting interior design. Make your home
look beautiful and clean and feel so much better!

Ways to Improve Your Interior Decorating

July 22nd, 2007

Interior decorating can be hard work and that is why often it is better to plan everything out beforehand and do a little research.

When it comes to interior home decorating, there will always be many people out there who will own up to the fact that they do not have a clue when it comes to where to start. They may lack the inspiration or they may have a complete lack of ideas as to what direction to head in, and it may end up being rushed without much thought put into it.

A quick splash of paint and many people leave it at that, but what if
you were given a push in the right direction? It can be extremely
tiring when it comes to decorating, but to help to keep stress levels
down, preparation before you start is always the best thing to do.

What to Consider With Interior Decorating

  • Will you use wallpaper or paint?
  • If you use paint what color will it be?
  • What furniture, carpets, flooring etc, will you use?
  • How much is your budget to spend?

This entry is not about weight loss, or why it is wrong in so many ways to have a product named after autostarvation. This entry is about something much more appealing than that - toilets. LOL Specifically, toilets that clean themselves

Small Home Improvements That Make a Big Impact on Your Decorating

July 15th, 2007

Not all home improvements are big projects that require large amounts of money. There are a lot of small things that can be done at low cost to improve your home’s decorations. You’ll find three methods below.

A small, yet inexpensive, home improvement that can make a big impact on your home is to redecorate with paint. Whether it be the interior or exterior, painting is something you can even do yourself, saving even more money. Pick a color, paint it on and enjoy your home’s new look. You may even notice furnishings and accessories that didn’t stand out with the old color.

Another simple improvement that makes a difference is to decorate your walls. You can add anything from elaborate murals to decorative wall paintings to ordinary wallpaper. A well-organized series of photos in wood frames or a couple of nice prints that have been framed also work well to accent an, otherwise, plain wall.

There are numerous accessories you can purchase for very little that can be used to compliment your home decoration scheme. Some popular accents include area rugs, lamps, and pillows for the living room or bedroom. For the kitchen, look for dish towels, canisters, decorative bottles, and figurines. Decorative soaps, colorful towels and candles are excellent for the bathroom.

Inexpensive decorations don’t have to be cheap items. Some of the places you can find good deals on decorative accessories are in your local classifieds, at garage sales or auctions, and online. Make a list and keep it with you. As you go along your way, keep an eye out. You never know where you might find the perfect piece to decorate your home.

Interior Design today is all about customizing your built environment with conceptual planning, aesthetic sense and technical solutions applied to achieve the desired result.

It goes beyond just the visual or ambient enhancement of an interior space, it seeks to optimize and harmonize the uses to which the built environment will be put. Between you and me, this jargon simply means dressing up your closed spaces to make them look their best.

Fireplace Designs

Originally fireplace screens where designed with the primary purpose of protecting the area directly in front of the fireplace, helping reduce the risk of fire. Constructed of materials to withstand the extreme heat produced by a wood-burning fireplace, how they looked was unimportant.

Modern fireplace screens incorporate the same safety features but with the added benefit of numerous designs and styles to compliment your home’s décor and serve as much as a piece of decoration as a safety feature.

Your Guide To Tropical Decorating

July 11th, 2007

For most of you reading this there’s nothing better than the thought of somewhere sunny and warm. Someplace where people would plan to retire to in the sun. This is the same type of place you’d like to go on holidays too and just enjoy the overall feeling of wellness that a sunny climate can give you. So why not have that experience early and put the feel of a sunny climate right into your own home, so you can be in the tropics every single day?

To make a start at creating your own desert island experience at home you’ll need to look for colors that are both bright and relaxing whilst still conveying the tropical theme. “Cold” colors are to be avoided at all costs. Why not start with white and pale creams to set the mood. Then after establishing this basic tone for the room you can add pale shades of blue and green to really flesh out the color scheme in the room.

With the floor, there are two main options; tiling and wooden flooring. Tiles generally look best, but hardwood covered with a suitable rug will also look great, and will also protect your new wooded floor. To give your room the feel of a beach, you could have a sisal rug in the room, although the furniture will be more important than what you put on the floor in the long run.
