The Correct Amount of Sunlight

A good idea is to put your orchid on a window sill that receives good sunlight both in the morning and afternoon. Move your orchid a little back away from the window’s glass if the sunlight is very strong.

But what if you don’t have a sunny window or live in an area with typically cloudy weather? A choice is to use fluorescent lightning. To get the best effects, the lightning should left on for at least 12 hours and maybe longer, depending on the orchids species you are growing.

Watering

Temperature

You will also need to maintain the correct temperature level. Again the actual temperature level will depend on the particular species you are growing but can range from 50 degrees F to 75 degrees F. You should remove your orchid away from the window during cold nights to prevent freezing.

Humidity Levels for Orchids

Placing pots of orchid plants on decorative pebbles in a water-filled tray increases the humidity level to a desirable degree. You can also regular “mist” your plants with a spray bottle filled with distilled water but be careful not to soak them or you will risk fungal diseases developing.
