With the excitement of a new purchase of a home theater speakers, very few people take the time to understand where the speakers should be placed. Their is no specific rule about where home theater speakers should be located because different factors can play a role. Some of the factors include children, pets, and furniture to name a few. We will supply a few suggestions when thinking about where to put your home theater speakers.

The Center Speaker

We will start out with the placement of the center speaker. The placement of this speaker will be driven by where the television will be placed. The ideal situation will have this speaker either above or below the current television location. Another tip is to ensure the front edge of the speaker is in direct alignment with the front edge of the television. This will help minimize the distortion you can receive from a television cabinet.

The Right And Left Speakers

The right and left speakers are also located in the front of the room. These speakers have the responsibility for handling the stereo music. You will want to have a minized arc position and be in alignment with the center speaker. The optimal location for placing the right and left speakers in a home theater system is the same distance as the center speaker and aimed at your ears. You would want to make measurements to ensure the placement of the home theater speakers are correct.

The Surround Speakers

The last speakers that need to placed are the surround speakers. These are the speakers which allow for the special effects that put you inside the movie. There are different thoughts on where these speakers should be placed. Some are the preferences are:
- At seat level
- The height at where someone stands.
- slightly behind a piece of furniture.
With this in mind we prefer the placement of ear level when standing.
